Wow that was creepy O.O
You set the theme artfully. I was shaking in my boots by the time the voices started laughing.
How did you make the voices? Did you just record yourself "la la la"-ing?

May 22, 2009

Author's Response:

yes. I la-la-la-ed the hell out of that with garageband. I love garageband. :3

Garage Band, am i right? You should try to change up the tunes a little bit, maybe swap out the instruments, try to make it more your own. Search around the internet, there's almost certainly tutorials somewhere that touch on making your own original music in Garage Band without needing to record things yourself.
As a song by itself, decent tune, the changes between instruments were perhaps a little bit sketchy, but it generally fits together pretty well. The beat fits nicely with your choice of tune.
But seriously, originality is the key here. I could make exactly this myself if i had a mac and half an hour, if that.

Cool loop. The bass is a little difficult to discern from the rest, but it does make the loop that much more rich.
This is a very well done loop, all the synths blend together quite nicely to give a wholesome rich feeling. It makes me think of a sexy streamlined ship of some sort shooting through space. Well done.

You lose one point for most of the author comment being in all caps. It takes away from the general presentation of your song if you appear to be yelling. Though judging from the author comment, you won't really mind XD
The song itself is awesome. It kindof reminds me of old Megaman games. You managed to keep me interested the whole time, so that means it wasn't too repetitive, one of the great fall backs of a lot of electronica. It all sounded awesome. So since it was so great you get back the point you lost from all caps earlier.
Awesome job.

Author's Response:

Ha HA!

The thing is, this song was posted on Caps Day.

So... Yeah.

It's also true, I didn't really care too much :D

The snare in the first 20 seconds didn't sit right with me, and there were a few places that didn't quite sit right with me aside from that, but after it looped a few times i stopped noticing and rather enjoyed the coherence.
I got a little bored of the trumpet (?) pattern i was hearing for so long.
Aside from that and the general lack of dynamic that i can't really complain about (curse you computers and you inability to feel!!) I generally liked it. I liked the string shredding at 1:42 especially. Nice work.

Author's Response:

Yeah it was trumpet :D the string shredding was defenitely the highlight of the song for me

Wow man. You really know how to make FL sound shiny and expensive. Well, i guess it is pretty expensive, but you know what i mean.
Perfect length, i didn't get bored the whole time.
Is that a train i hear? Well done, that's a new one. Never seen- er.. hear that before.
Excellent work.

Author's Response:

Well, people are always quick to criticise the basic samples that come with FL, but some of them aren't all too shabby. I wanted to do something for the FL core competition a while back, but I couldn't work out how to pull it off. I guess I just needed the right moment to get it done.

So true. You get 10/10 just for having sweet lyrics.
And aside from that, i'm not big on indie music, but i really enjoyed this. I didn't find anything particularly wrong, so good job.
Nice work.

Nice work. The name fits (you know why, so i won't bother telling you).
Myself, having a very short attention span, was almost lost to this song at about 1:00. The you came in with more fun stuff thirty seconds later, so congrats, you held my attention. Nice work ^^ In my narrow opinion, this song is too long for it's own good, but then, i say that about most electronica that exceeds two minutes, so...
Excellent work.

Author's Response:

Thanks, I've been wondering if it was too long but I think each section fits the way it does because of how long it is and I'm far too lazy to completely remake it!

Thanks for your kind review

basshunter song loop

"*****"

date: August 30, 2008

I can hear the Basshunter in there, and that little line i enjoyed. However, the cymbals and... well pretty much everything else actually didn't fit at all. Or if it did, it's very subtle. I think you can do better

August 30, 2008

Author's Response:

well nothing is soposed to fit in and I made it so its really jumbled but with the bass hunter in it

The Death of Hank

submission: The Death of Hank

Oh yeah. I can feel the hopeless battle. Try and try as you might, you're still gunna die Hank. Poor Hank...
I liked the blend of classical and hip hop, and the addition of the piano worked excellently. But i think i heard the same pattern, particularly on that Oboe(?), repeat itself through the entire song... And i /will/ harp on repetition! Other than some repeating melodies, and the general stale feeling, i have no complaint.
Good song, nice work.

August 31, 2008

Author's Response:

Thanks. Yeah, I tried to cover it with the long melodies, but it didn't work.
Thanks for the reviews.
